My unforgettable meeting with Anita Haglöf – Bergman's housekeeper

I did not know at all what had become of Anita, not until she told the media about his time as Ingmar Bergman's housekeeper and the book she has written, but it was fun to see her again in the media, even if the circumstances of how her life evolved were sad. Now it is hopefully better. I think so far.

1987 I had won a competition Dramatic announced in spring. If you were under thirty, you could send in a play and if it won, it would be put on Lejonkulan. I thought at the time, much of how people diminish their world and perception of the world to make it easy for themselves and how the fear of the unknown can infect the mind. How people during of caring and love overtones can build isolated territory through the walls of fear flows. And what about the eternal vitality of the man in the end will always want to pry their way through the walls of their deep ancestral longing, if not the power to change, want more, like other, will explore, will grow. The play I named after a nonsense rhyme that the young protagonist hears from the yard where children play – the only contact he has with the allegedly threatening world outside – in addition to the bid that comes with food, but he did not get to talk to. The young boy was shot by Pontus Gustafsson and the offer of my favorite Tord Peterson and the piece was directed by Goran Graffman and renamed to something more bland ”En underbar utsikt”. Stage manager was Stefan Larsson, a very kind soul. It was premiered on 17 oktober 1987 on Lejonkulan.

The price I got from himself Bergman, who then called me a few times and thought I'd write more for the stage, which I did. Hur som haver, I moved then from time to time in the house Dramatic Theater. And one day in early November, I would try reflexology as Anita in reception could perform. I remember the whole situation very well, the dim room and Anita at his feet and her friendly chatter with me which was quite shy. AJ, I shouted suddenly and jumped high chair. She looked up at me and said, ” Are you pregnant?”

”Nej”, sa jag. ” Not that I know of!” Hon sa ” But I will not press more there, for if it can happen to cause a miscarriage, and that you're not? ”

I did not like that very much of it in the near future. I thought most that such a thing may well not understand the touch of a woman's feet? Peter and I had talked about that now when I began to establish myself as small – there was a production decision on national television to make Ebba & Didrik and I had proven success with the play at the Royal Dramatic Theater – it would actually be possible to have a baby. But we had never really talked seriously about it. It just was in the air. But I used the natural contraceptive thermometer and notes!

And indeed. Anita was right. And the child must have been to just about the end of October so it was very quite in the swirling wind when I was with her. The friendly Anita Haglöf was the very first person who knew that a child was on the way of our life, a little boy, our son is today 30 år, and she knew it before I even suspected it.

Therefore, I have never forgotten Anita Haglöf. That little moment when I yelled AJ and bounced on the chair and she looked up at me, so awake and searching, heralded the most profound and wonderful in my life, to become the mother of my children.

With that, I wish everyone a happy new year 2019.
